Personality
The wind is calling me... I must move on.
Talim is certainly one of the kinder and more innocent characters in the Soul Calibur series. She's modest, yet confident in her abilities. Most of her dialogue includes phrases that are reassuring and encouraging, telling herself that she has to do her best and believe in herself. Yet while she believes strongly in herself, she does ask for guidance and aid from the wind, indicating a sort of necessary bond between her and the natural world. She's very in tune with the balance of nature, hence her reaction to feeling the evil of the Soul Edge in her remote village.

It's also apparent that Talim has no love of fighting. She often asks enemies to step down or give up (they never do, this being a fighting game). But if she has to fight, she views it as a necessary sacrifice to achieve her goal of destroying evil; as she says in III, "some things can only be conveyed through battle." Despite her reservations about fighting, she's a strong and focused opponent, no matter the odds. She'll readily stand up to giant monsters and evil men with scythes. And she even apologizes to enemies once she beats them and asks if they're okay.

She has a positive outlook, but seems to realize the serious nature of what she is fighting against. Unlike Yunsung, her optimism is grounded in reality; she doesn't have any selfish motives and doesn't want to use the Soul Edge for her own purposes. Talim manages to be innocent, yet sincere. Her personality is unique in the sense that most young and optimistic characters in video games are portrayed as ditzy or naive, while Talim has a calm resolve and acknowledges the danger of the Soul Edge. Her extreme innocence may prove to be her downfall, however, when one looks at the evil intentions of many of the other characters. But we'll have to see where the future games take her.

Talim is definitely aligned with the "good" side. She fights only for the benefit of the world, with no thirst for power or revenge like many of the other playable characters. The word "purity" comes to mind when talking about Talim. She seems to care for the good of humanity and puts others' well-being before her own. For example, she willingly passed the evil energy of the Soul Edge through her body in order to save a young boy in her III story. She also tries to see the good in people despite their words or actions; for example, her reassuring Seung Mina that Yunsung is a good person, despite his reckless behavior and thirst for the Soul Edge.
